Dear Group,

I've just installed the latest version of the ascom driver. I have a
G42+ with firmware version 3.78a installed.

The driver connects ok, but when the ascom software issues a slew
command, the scope slews correctly but then returns the following error
message,

'No response from mount. The mount did not return the correct slewing
Command.'

From my understanding of this it looks like the mount is not
issuing progress updates to the driver. Has any one else seen this
issue?

Suggestions much appreciated.

Hi Carl!

I cannot answer you question but want to add a question that you possibly can answer: I am not able to install the driver: I get the error message that this driver requires Ascom platform 5. Which I just installed. Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong?

Best regards

Hi Oivind

Open Ascom Profile Explorer. You will see profile root. Select Telescope drivers, then press Ascom pulsar Telescope. Once you selected it in the right hand window you should see Value and date with all your pulsar settings in there. Now close the programme. If you are using Pempro open the programme. Here you will see setup then Select Configure Scopes/Mounts. Under Telescope/mounts type scroll down the menu and Select Pulsar press save on the right hand side then close, now press connect scope and you should see Gemini G42 connected you are done.

Ps make sure you are using a com port that is not in use.

While I think of it.
I forgot to mention you must install Ascom 5.5 if using vista or windows 7 or just install 5.5 anyway. Just check you have latest dotnet framework installed

Hi Carl

I've just changed to firmware v3.80a (I do not have your firmware 3.78a to try) and I do not see the error you are getting. Do you see a No 1,2 or 3 in brackets when the error is shown. This will point me to the correct part of the code.

I any know of one outstanding problem and that is using the PEC through the ASCOM driver with the Pulsar2 it works fine with the original Pulsar which the driver was written for. If you updated the Pulsar2 PEC using Pempro then the RA does not display correctly it shows as 00:00:00. If you have updated your PEC using Pempro then please switch off the PEC and try again.

Also what program are you using when you get the message and are your using any hubs?

Kind Regards

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply. Yes the number (2) appears at the end of the error message. The error message appears with any ascom software I tried it with. I did try pempro but because of this error was not able to get as far as programming the pec.

No I am not using any hubs, just a direct USB connection.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may have to offer.

Regards,

Carl.

Hi Carl

OK the number two is showing up as a timeout problem, could you update to the newer firmware v3.80a so we are both on the same version.

I have no idea what it could be at this time because I cannot reproduce the error. The only thing I can ask is to try another machine and USB ports. If I come across anything else I will let you now. Please keep me posted with what you try.

Kind Regards

Hi Carl

This is not going to help much but I have just tested 5.0.7 on A XP, Vista and Windows 7 system using Pempro & MaximDL with no reported problems. If you do have a chance to try it on another system then please do and let me know the out come.

Kind Regards

Hi Paul

I tested it again on a newer laptop that is usb2.0 whereas the old Pc was usb1.1 with the.same results. This leads me to think that some setting on the mount is the problem could this be the case.

Carl
